02 Harley Truck Gets S/C

While at Walley-world today I picked up Truck Trend.

Yup, sure enough, the Harley F-150 gets a "de-tuned" Lightning engine for '02.

340 horsepower.

The R/T is no longer the worlds fastest production extended cab truck. So much for it's one claim to fame ;) Well, I guess you could call the Harley a crew cab and not an extended cab.

So, maybe the R/T guys still have something to hang onto.....besides the fastest production pickup available in yellow and purple.

Whaccha y'all think?

Oh yeah, looks like the Harley is gray this year with some flame graphics on it.

From the pages of the April issue of Truckin' that I just got today:

"Ford will, it's rumored, expand availability of the 340hp version of the supercharged Triton 5.4L V-8 beyond the Harley-Davidson F-150 to any F-150 that wants it by 2004."

I hope this means that they are planning on upping the power for the Lightning!

They "detuned" it to keep the L on top, but all they did was replace the pulley with a larger one to keep boost down. I like it, but I think it will be over $40,000 despite the estimated $38.000 price. I also hope that the L will step up to 20" rims as an option, not standard.

Available in all F-150s??? That sucks! SVT better step it up a notch or no one is going to want a Lightning! Then again, maybe they are considering not making them anymore in 2004....

Also, I don't think it will be long before those HD guys learn about the pully/chip/filter mods...but I don't know if that two-piece drive-shaft will stand up to the torque off the line.
