Hey guys, new to this place just wanted to say whats up and ask this question, Iv'e always had my eye on lightnings and heard that they were fast but never found out what they had under the hood and what are some things you can do to add performance. Oh and what year did the lightning start and which one is the best year.:bigtu:
 
First of Welcome!

Well it dependes on a Gen 1 or 2.

Gen 1 are powered by a N/A 351

Gen 2 are powered by a blown 5.4

The first year for the Lightning is 1993.
 
Lightnings are so fast that when they turn the light off for bed they are under the covers before the room gets dark

Faster ? The Gen 2. Factory advertised HP on the Gen 1's (1993 to 1995) is 240 hp. Factory advertised HP on the Gen 2's is 360 HP for the 1999 and 2000 models and 380 HP on the 2001 to 2004 models.

What Scott says is correct for stock Lightnings. But as we all know around here, there are very, very few "stock" Lightnings around here.

Both Gen's have their pros and cons and hard core devotees. So, "best" is gonna be subjective.
