I have received quite a few e-mails from people on this forum and many other inquiring about future plans I have for a street racing series in Michigan. Although I do not have any plans for running a Street Scene based series I am looking into another option.
As Director of Competition for Street Scene Revolution I have recommended that Michigan is to be considered as one of the locations for a Street Scene based drag racing series called the “Super Bowl of Street Racing: Home of the $10,000 Street Race.” http://www.superbowlofstreetracing.com/
Just like the title states, we are offering a $10,000 guaranteed payout for street “legal” cars, which to our knowledge is the highest payout for legitimate street vehicles in the country.
The event features a Quick 16 heads-up drag race utilizing a Pro four hundred tree on a Sportsman Ladder. With eight classes, six for cars and two for motorcycles; 96 cars and 32 motorcycles will enter eliminations with 64 people driving away with money. To help acclimate the people who are not familiar with racing on a track we offer three rounds of qualifying instead of the standard two and onsite racing assistance from our anti-street racing organization “Evo Street Racers.” http://www.evostreetracers.com/
Based on the location of the event we also have the capacity to run a custom car show, dB competition, Gymkhana races, and burn out competitions.
Currently we are looking into possible locations within Michigan to hold the race and viability of local sponsorship.
As more information becomes available as to whether we will run the race in Michigan you will be amongst the first to know.
Until then, as always, I offer my personal assistance to anyone interested in developing and running a street scene based event in an effort to curtail racing on the street.
